Meet Our Optometrists
Dr. Wes McCann, Optometrist
Dr. McCann earned his two Bachelor of Science degrees (both with honours) at Western University in London, Ontario, before going on to earn his Bachelor of Vision Science, accelerated MBA, and Doctor of Optometry degrees at the Nova Southeastern University (NSU) of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
During his time at NSU, Dr. McCann was president of the student government and was awarded the Student of the Year award. He also maintained full honour roll status and earned the Dan & Hoffman Award for clinical excellence, as well as an award recognizing his skill in contact lens management.
While in Florida, Dr. McCann completed several clinical internships at Eyes Centers of South Florida in Miami and Aker Kasten Eye Center in Boca Raton. He also completed clinical rotations that focused on contact lenses, primary care, and pediatric optometry at NSU.
Dr. McCann owns eight practices in the London and surrounding area and is a professional consultant for Johnson & Johnson Visioncare. He has been on the faculty at the Canadian Dry Eye Summit numerous times and lectured at hundreds of events/conferences and across various platforms on contact lenses, ocular disease, dry eye disease, pharmaceuticals, and medical equipment. He is a KOL, consultant and/or speaks for companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Bausch & Lomb pharmaceutical division, Labtician, Thea, Oculus, Clarion, Zeiss, and Sun Pharma. He has enjoyed teaching clinical externs from the Waterloo School of Optometry in the past, has served on the Board of Directors for the Ontario Association of Optometrists in 2016-2018, and is currently on the Board of Directors for Eye Recommend. He has been published in numerous journals including Review of Optometry and Review of Myopia Management.
For the 2016/2017 year, Dr. McCann also served on the board of directors for the Ontario Association of Optometrists, and is currently serving on the board of directors for Eye Recommend, a national cooperative and a growing network of independent optometrists dedicated to personalized and comprehensive eye care.
While he misses the sunny Florida weather, Dr. McCann is pleased to be practicing in his hometown of London, Ontario.
Dr. Marina Bobanovic, Optometrist
Dr. Marina Bobanovic completed a Bachelor of Science with high distinction in Human Physiology at the University of Iowa in 2016. She went on to graduate from Illinois College of Optometry summa cum laude with the Presidential Award in 2020. Dr. Bobanovic is originally from Chicago, but has enjoyed practicing in London since 2020.
She is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, the Optometric Extension Program Foundation, and the Ocular Wellness & Nutrition Society. She is passionate about providing full-scope optometric care to her patients – including ocular disease management, dry eye treatment, myopia control, specialty contact lens fittings, and pediatric care.
In her free time, she enjoys baking, exploring Ontario’s hiking trails, and travelling.
Dr. Nathan Templeman
Dr. Nathan Templeman grew up near Mitchell, Ontario and is excited to be returning to Ontario to provide eye care close to home. He spent the past two years practicing optometry in Vancouver, BC, after his graduation from the University of Waterloo in 2023 with Dean’s Honours. Prior to attending optometry school in Waterloo, he graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 2019 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences.
Dr. Templeman enjoys providing comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages. During his studies, Dr. Templeman spent time in Grande Prairie, Alberta, where he gained experience managing a range of ocular diseases, such as Dry Eye Disease, Glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy, and Age-Related Macular Degeneration. He also enjoys providing pre- and post-operative care to patients undergoing cataract surgery. In his spare time, he loves playing hockey, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.
Dr. Shannon Slade
Dr. Shannon Slade was born in raised in Ottawa, Ontario. She completed her undergraduate studies at Queen’s University, receiving a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biochemistry and Mathematics. She then completed her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo, graduating in 2023 with Dean’s Honours.
During her optometric studies, Dr. Slade trained in a variety of clinical settings. She spent time in Grande Prairie, Alberta, where she gained invaluable experience in the treatment of management of a wide array of ocular diseases, including Cataracts, Glaucoma, Dry Eye Disease, Macular Degeneration, and Diabetic Retinopathy. Dr. Slade has also gained additional training in binocular vision evaluation, myopia Control, and contact lenses. Dr. Slade is passionate about providing patient-centered care to patients of all ages, and loves working with children.
Since graduating, Dr. Slade spent her first 2 years practicing in Vancouver, BC before making the move back home to Ontario. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, baking, and traveling with friends and family. Dr. Slade is accepting new patients and looks forward to meeting you!
Dr. Tazeen Ahmed, Optometrist
Dr. Tazeen Ahmed was born in Toronto, Ontario and moved to Windsor, Ontario, at a young age, where she grew up. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Windsor and graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts and Science with concentrations in Biology and Spanish, with distinction. She then went on to obtain her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo, where she graduated with distinction.
She completed her clinical training in Alberta, rural Manitoba, and the University of Waterloo, where she gained experience with treating and managing ocular diseases such as dry eye disease, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and keratoconus. Dr. Ahmed is passionate about providing full-scope, comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages and has a special interest in myopia control, dry eye management and specialty contact lens fittings.
When not in the clinic, Dr. Ahmed enjoys travelling, trying different cuisines, staying active, and spending time with friends and family. Dr. Ahmed is committed to providing quality eye care and is very excited to be serving the London community!
